On Adjusting to a New Life

It’s been almost a month since new chapters opened simultaneously; my son going to school and me having my graduate studies. With these, I had to make new adjustments to my daily routine, and this includes my current ESL teaching job.

One challenge I had to overcome was waking up very early to cater my students. I used to teach during the afternoons and evenings, but since my son’s kindergarten classes are scheduled in the afternoon, and my MBA classes are in the evenings, I had to do my shift from 3AM to 6:30AM (Philippine Time). This specific adjustment has caused me to be on hiatus from my affiliate marketing side hustle for three weeks, but it is worth the compromise. I have gotten used to the routine, and I am praying that I’ll be consistent. As of now, ESL teaching is my bread and butter as I can’t afford to have an 8-to-5 job.

Surprisingly, being THIS busy became healthier for me. Recently, I struggled with negative emotions as I’ve dealt with losing too many friends and loved ones just because I’m too busy chasing my dreams and that not all understood my insecurities and other stuff. It did hurt, but it’s going to be okay. I also learned to think less of matters that make me feel down and frustrated. Being productive made me perceive life in a better way and I’ve learned so much as I gradually adapted to this new mindset.

I know that some people would say that being in the hustle culture shouldn’t be romanticized too much, but as of right now, this is the best way for me to cope with everything that has happened in my life. I am so grateful.
