I was in Paul’s house to write a script for our upcoming short film. While writing, our director, Arjay, sang some songs which I’m not familiar with. Two of my best friends, Paul and Robert, then said some stuff about those songs. Since I don’t have any idea what they are talking about, I just listened then asked.
Arjay replied, “Wins, have you seen the movie, ‘Les Miserables’?”
“No. Why?”
“You should watch it! It’s an amazing movie!” Paul and Robert uttered.
I felt like I was out of place as they continued talking about the movie.
Moments later, we transferred to Paul’s living room to watch some short clips of Les Miserables. There, I met Fantine, Cosette, Marius, Valjean, Javert and Eponine. While watching, I kept on asking questions about the characters’ stories. Seeing my utmost interest, Arjay suggested that we should come back to Paul’s house to watch the movie together.
That night, my mind was full of thoughts about the movie. I just can’t wait to watch the entire film. I got utterly interested because it was set back during the French Revolution (since I love studying history) and the cinematography is astonishing! Not to mention, it’s a musical.
The next day, Arjay brought his laptop and his external hard drive. Before we watched, he let us read the movie’s script which he downloaded from the internet. Afterwards, he prepared the television and his external hard drive then started watching.
Synopsis: After 19 years as a prisoner, Jean Valjean is freed by Javert, the officer in charge of the prison workforce. Valjean promptly breaks parole but later uses money from stolen silver to reinvent himself as a mayor and factory owner. Javert vows to bring Valjean back to prison. Eight years later, Valjean becomes the guardian of a child named Cosette after her mother’s death, but Javert’s relentless pursuit means that peace will be a long time coming.

The story’s really fantastic. Cheers to the creative author of this obra, VICTOR HUGO. The actors and actresses portrayed the characters well and it’s so WOW. The soundtrack’s creatively composed, I love the lyrics. It’s so deep and I gotta admit, I can relate myself to some of their songs especially the ones which are sung by Eponine (portrayed by Samantha Barks). Eponine’s character is simple yet she’s my favourite. She’s beautiful, kind and has a soft heart. I actually cried when she died (sorry to spoil you, I just can’t help myself because I love her so much) because of her love for Marius.
Tears fell down after I watched this movie. I didn’t care when I got teased by my friends. It’s just that I couldn’t help myself from falling in love with this movie. IT’S REALLY WORTH-WATCHING AND THEIR SONGS ARE WORTH-LISTENING, I’m telling you.
Until now, I still got this “Les Miserables Fever”. I sing their songs EVERYDAY. I even memorized two of Eponine’s songs in just two days.
My Rating: A PERFECT 10.
