Just How Relaxing Online Retail Therapy Could Be?

Hello again, readers! I’m so glad to write again after a long time! I’ve been very busy at work and studies lately (adulting, right?). Hope y’all been doing great.

Anyway, I wanna talk about online retail therapy because it has been helping me in coping with all the stress I get everyday.

Surely it’s our responsibility to love and reward ourselves especially when we achieve some wins, be it small or big. Now that this coronavirus pandemic happened, it has been difficult to go to recreational places, hang out with friends, and even go shopping for some new goodies at malls. Those were the good times, right? *sigh*

It’s a good thing that online shopping has been a rising trend. Providing the convenience of not going outside of the house, e-commerce platforms saved us from boredom and the possibility of acquiring the virus. Personally speaking, it made me realize how helpful it is to find what I need/want in these platforms. Not to mention, it also helped me in managing my finances and in maintaining my self-esteem!

I always get excited every time I see something that can be bought in bulk and in a cheaper price. It’s like the proudness of being a thrifty person and being updated combined (lol). I also learned how to be even more skeptical when buying products and how powerful consumerism actually is. So glad to use what I’ve learned back in my university days, hehe~

I’ve seen some of my friends’ videos about them getting sale hauls, feeling happy about trying those product on and providing sound feedbacks. It’s very helpful that such content exists because I can have better options when shopping online, basically making me a wise shopper.

This made me even more intrigued at how retail therapy works in making people feel better. According to what I’ve read in an article by MentalHelp.net, it can be a distraction from self-focus on personal problems towards this external thing a person is buying. It can be a way of coping with emotional discomfort (although this claim is yet to be proved). I can personally attest to this, especially now that I’m quite bombarded with workload and other responsibilities. Whenever I get a notification that one of my parcels are on its way, I always check my phone from time to time just in case the deliveryman calls. It really is a nice feeling to have something to look forward to and it’s a good way to spend my break times opening parcels.

I can also buy some treats for my little Caleb and it’s really rewarding, to be honest.

I also discovered a new side-hustle; affiliate marketing. Through reel creation and TikTok lives, I am able to maximize the things I bought by re-selling them using links and gaining commissions. In fact, I am delving deeper as this is my target thesis topic for my upcoming MBA journey (yes, I’m going back to studying again).

Well, that’s it for now! Gonna write to y’all again soon!

xoxo,

Wins.
